Thus far, 2016 has been a pretty wild year in Virginia! Our Waiver are being redesigned, new savings options for people with disabilities are coming online, and the need for Powers of Attorney and other legal authority keep rising.
Below is just a sample of what will be offered this Fall and Winter as we gear up for a system redesign.

1. Webinar on Legal Authority– On Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at 1 PM our Director of Services, Cheryl Johnson, and Attorney Loretta Morris Williams will present on Legal Authority. The presentation covers all kinds of legal authority from nothing to full guardianship and all that is in between for decision making and financial supports. You can RSVP here. 2. Webinar on Waiver Redesign– On Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at 2 PM we will host an updated presentation to keep you updated on the most recent news related to Waiver Redesign, expected to be implemented as of 9/1/16. I will present on new eligibility, applications, services, and support plans. This is appropriate for anyone considering a Waiver, on the waiting list, or currently using a Waiver.

3. In Person Life Planning Tools Series on Waiver Redesign, Trusts, and Legal Authority– On Wednesday, October 5, 2016 from 8:30 AM-1:15 PM we will be hosting a three part session in our office. It will cover legal authority and redesign (as outlined in sessions 1 and 2 above) as well as Special Needs Trusts and futures planning with Tia Marsili, our Director of Trusts. This is a great in person learning opportunity and will be the last time this series is offered in 2016. You can RSVP here.
4. First Fridays Futures Planning- September 9, 2016 from 10:00am – 12:00pm. Offered on the first Friday of every month (second Friday in September due to the Holiday) Tia Marsili, Director of Trusts, presents to families, siblings and adults with disabilities or others interested in learning about special needs trusts and other tools to consider when developing a plan for the future.
