We are very excited for our 2018 Developmental Disability advocacy opportunities! I’m attaching a flyer you’re welcome to share with a list of local hearings in early January, as well news about our bus trip to Richmond on January 17, 2018 for statewide DD Advocacy Day.
We have a good list of speakers for our local events, but we need people to attend with us to show support and unity. We really need people to join us at their local town hall meetings during session (details come out later, but let me know if you’d like to be updated) and our bus trip to Richmond.
If you’re new to our advocacy, January is our busiest month of the year as state legislators meet locally to gather input before heading to Richmond on January 11th for 60 days to pass a two year budget and all of the laws for 2017. It is busy busy busy and very empowering to be involved!
If you’d like to see changes in Virginia, this is the time to act. Download a Flyer to share with others: 2018 Advocacy Opportunities
If you’d like to attend at an event, let me know and I’ll email you with updates and how we’ll coordinate for the day. If you’d like to speak at a local town hall during session, let me know and I can help you find an event, prepare, edit the speech, sign up, and will support you there. If you’d like to come to Richmond, let me know and I’ll get you on the bus roster (or you can join us there) and send you information on the day and invite you to a quick preparatory webinar in January. If you want to do all of this, please do!
