2022 Meet the Candidates Forums

Election Day is November 8, 2022

 

The Arc of Northern Virginia and the Autism Society of Northern Virginia are proud to once again present this series of Candidate Forums in advance of the 2022 General Election.

 

We are grateful to the candidates and their campaign staff for their availability and cooperation. These forums provide the opportunity to hear directly from the candidates and for them to answer your questions about the future of services and supports for individuals with disabilities in Virginia. You will have a chance to hear the candidates seeking your vote discuss their beliefs, their plans our state, and their goals for supporting constituents with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This is an exciting opportunity for you to effect real change in policy for the disability community in Virginia.

2022 General Election Forum #1

Candidates for Virginia’s 7th and 10th Congressional Districts, United States House of Representatives

Online via Zoom

 

Hear from Abigail Spanberger (D, incumbent) who is running for re-election to represent Virginia’s 7th Congressional District, and her challenger, Yesli Vega (R.)   Then hear from Jennifer Wexton (D, incumbent) who is running for re-election to represent Virgina’s 10th Congressional District, and her challenger, Hung Cao (R.)

 

These districts encompass parts of Prince William County, Loudoun County, the City of Fredericksburg, Manassas, and Manassas Park. This is a special opportunity to hear the candidates speak and ask them all your questions about the future of disability services and supports in Virginia. They  speak in detail about their policies, past work, and plan for the future to help individuals withdisabilities.

2022 General Election Forum #2

Candidates for Virginia’s 8th and 11th Congressional Districts, United States House of Representatives

Online via Zoom

 

Hear from Don Beyer (D, incumbent) Karina Lipsman (R, challenger) and Teddy Fikre (Independent, challenger) who are vying to represent Virginia’s 8th Congressional District. You’ll also hear from hear from James Myles (R, challenger) who is vying to represent Virginia’s 11th Congressional District. Incumbent Congressman Gerry Connolly (D) was unable to attend, but will provide a video message which will be made available on our website.

 

These districts encompass parts of Arlington County, the City of Alexandria, the City of Falls Church, Fairfax County, Prince William County, and the City of Fairfax. The candidates will share information about their work in the disability realm and answer questions about how they would implement policies and priorities important to the DD community if elected in November 2022.
