DESCRIPTION:  \nThe Arc of Northern Virginia’s Community Challenge brings together companies\, community organizations\, families and supporters for one of the region’s most spirited and meaningful community races. Participants form teams to raise funds that sustain programs\, services and advocacy for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD)\, while competing for bragging rights and glory along the way. \nRunners can take part in the exciting 5K race\, while those looking for a more relaxed pace can join the inclusive 2K fun walk or roll\, an option designed to welcome participants of all abilities. For more than four decades\, the Community Challenge has been a Northern Virginia tradition\, featuring teams of 5–7 runners or up to 7 walkers who work together to support a great cause while enjoying friendly competition. \nThis year’s Community Challenge will once again take place at beautiful Burke Lake Park\, offering scenic trails and a lively\, community-centered atmosphere. DESCRIPTION:  \n\n\n\nThe TFIL Team presents a transportation & safety–focused Summer Series: Riding with Confidence! This week-long series will help participants learn how to stay safe in their community\, understand the role of different emergency services\, and identify the difference between emergencies and non-emergencies. Attendees will also practice navigating public transit\, pedestrian travel\, and general community safety. The week will conclude with a hands-on community outing\, where participants can put their new skills into practice and build confidence traveling independently.\n \n \n\n\n\nWho Should Sign-Up?:\n \nThis series is designed for self-advocates who want to feel more confident getting around their community\, handling emergencies\, and interacting with first responders. Participants should be at least 14 years old and be on track to take the next step toward independent travel.
