Please join us throughout the year in meetings with the candidates for local Congressional Districts, Virginia General Assembly seats, and members of various County boards and Local councils.  These meetings are rare opportunities to hear the candidates speak and to ask them all your questions about the future of disability services and supports in Virginia.  Don’t miss this opportunity!  They will speak in detail about their beliefs, their plans for the future of our state, and their goals to help individuals with disabilities.

Primary Election Day is Tuesday, June 11, 2019

 

Please join us as we meet with candidates for the 38th and 49th districts of the House of Delegates for Virginia. The 38th district comprises most of Annandale, Lake Barcroft, and West Falls Church to Bailey’s Crossroads. The seat is currently held by Delegate Kaye Kory and her primary challenger is Andres Jimenez. The 49th district comprises a large chunk of South Arlington along Columbia Pike including Fairlington and Pentagon City, as well as the Seven Corners and West Falls Church areas. The seat is currently held by Delegate Alfonso Lopez and his primary challenger is JD Spain. All four candidates will attend to answer your questions about their stance on disability issues and plans to support people with disabilities and their families.

Update 5/9/2019:  The campaign manager for Andres Jimenez has informed us that the candidate has a conflict, and now will not attend this forum.

Please join us as we meet with candidates for the 35th Senate District of Virginia and for the Commonwealth Attorney of Fairfax County. The 35th Senate district comprises Falls Church City, Seven Corners to Baileys Crossroads, and large parts of Springfield and North Springfield. The seat is currently held by Senator Dick Saslaw and his primary challenger is Yasmine Taeb. The Fairfax Commonwealth Attorney is the lead prosecutor for criminal cases in Fairfax County and leads the team of public prosecutors in the County. The seat is currently held by Ray Morrogh and his primary challenger is Steve Descano. Yasmine Taeb, Ray Morrogh, and Steve Descano will attend to answer your questions about their stance on disability issues. This will include and plans to support people with disabilities and their families as well as the intersection between people with disabilities and the criminal justice system, as victims and perpetrators.

Please note that Senator Saslaw has a conflict and cannot attend, but will send materials related to disability issues and his work.

The 31st Senate district comprises large parts of Arlington, Loudoun, and a small portion of Loudoun County. The seat is currently held by Senator Barbara Favola and her primary challenger is Nicole Merlene. The Arlington Commonwealth Attorney is the lead prosecutor for criminal cases in Arlington County and leads the team of public prosecutors in the County. The seat is currently held by Theo Stamos and her primary challenger is Parisa Dehghani-Tafti. All four candidates will attend to answer your questions about their stance on disability issues. This will include and plans to support people with disabilities and their families as well as the intersection between people with disabilities and the criminal justice system, as victims and perpetrators.
