SUMMARY:48th Annual Community Challenge
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe Arc of Northern Virginia’s Community Challenge brings together companies\, community organizations\, families and supporters for one of the region’s most spirited and meaningful community races. Participants form teams to raise funds that sustain programs\, services and advocacy for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD)\, while competing for bragging rights and glory along the way. \nRunners can take part in the exciting 5K race\, while those looking for a more relaxed pace can join the inclusive 2K fun walk or roll\, an option designed to welcome participants of all abilities. For more than four decades\, the Community Challenge has been a Northern Virginia tradition\, featuring teams of 5–7 runners or up to 7 walkers who work together to support a great cause while enjoying friendly competition. \nThis year’s Community Challenge will once again take place at beautiful Burke Lake Park\, offering scenic trails and a lively\, community-centered atmosphere. Whether you’re racing to win\, walking with colleagues or cheering from the sidelines\, Community Challenge is a fun and meaningful way to connect with the community and make a lasting impact. \n  \n\n \n Learn more and register!

SUMMARY:Transition Lunch & Learn
DESCRIPTION:  \nTransition Lunch and Learn is held on the second Thursday of the month\, facilitated by Diane Monnig\, Director of Programs. These sessions are not recorded. \nPlanning to transition from school to adult services can be overwhelming. Once your child exits the school system\, adult services are based on eligibility criteria and funding availability. These small group sessions are an opportunity to begin creating a plan for the future. Learn what employment and meaningful day support services are available\, how to explore post-secondary options\, what transportation supports exist\, how to help your child make decisions and advocate\, when to apply for SSI and manage benefits\, and what recreation activities are available. This informal opportunity is to ask questions and discuss with the facilitator and other participants. \n\n \n Register Now
