On September 12-14 The Arc of Northern Virginia is co-hosting a group of 8 people from the countries of Georgia and Ukraine.
These countries are just starting to close down their institutional settings and build community capacity, especially for children. They’re partnering with a group called Disability Rights International (DRI) to make this happen.
During their visit we at The Arc of Northern Virginia are taking them around to see adults with disabilities living and working in integrated settings, children in integrated schools, and to meet with service providers who make best practices happen everyday. We are thrilled to be a part of this project and support the rest of the world in growing an integrated, accepting community.
