As your loved one prepares for life beyond school, one of the biggest questions families face is: “What will they do all day?”
Join us for a practical, encouraging webinar designed especially for parents and families who want to help their loved one build a meaningful adult life filled with purpose, connection, choice, and the right supports. Together, we’ll explore how to move beyond simply filling time and begin creating days that reflect both what is important for your loved one—safety, routine, communication, support, and skill-building—and what is important to them—relationships, interests, belonging, enjoyment, and purpose. This could include:
- Medicaid-funded day programs that provide routine, social connection, skill-building, and support outside the home
- Private programs, classes, recreation, fitness, and interest-based activities that reflect your loved one’s strengths and preferences
- Community Engagement and Community Coaching supports that help individuals participate more fully in real community life
- Everyday opportunities—errands, volunteering, hobbies, faith communities, friendships, household roles, and outings—that build confidence, dignity, and belonging
Lisa Escoto, Founder and President of Family-Run Individual Group Homes of Virginia, and Susan Keenan, Executive Director of Community Living Alternatives, will talk about real-life options families may consider as they plan for adulthood, including where a loved one might live, how to build supports that honor both independence and safety, and how to build days with purpose, connection, choice, and support.
