What a wild ride this trip turned out to be! Our beach getaway and The Arc of Virginia Convention ended up being double-booked—yeah, things got a little chaotic. To top it off, Becky had a rough time at the beach, which definitely wasn’t cool. But you know what? We rolled with the punches and made the best of it!
Ocean Views & Good Eats
We had an awesome meal at Orion’s Roof—the view from up there was amazing! The food hit the spot, and the bar had a great vibe too. Nothing like sharing laughs and good food with great friends.
Awards & Street Cred
Then came the highlight: getting my award from The Arc of Virginia! I picked up some serious “street cred” with that hardware. It felt awesome to be recognized for my advocacy work and to celebrate with everyone.
Getting ready for the ceremony was exciting—lots of nerves and pride all mixed together. Once that medal hit my neck, I knew all the effort was worth it!
Dancing, Food & Fun
We wrapped up the night with good music, dancing, and more delicious food at Tulu’s—definitely a fun-loving meal with even better company. Beach life, great food, and celebration vibes all around!
Celebrating the “Dub” at Buc-ee’s
Of course, we couldn’t head home without a stop at Buc-ee’s! Where else would convention-goers celebrate the big “dub”? (That’s a “W” for the win!) It’s practically a tradition at this point.
Big News: Global Messenger at the SoVA Fall Games!
The best surprise? Finding out that I’ll be the Global Messenger for the SoVA Fall Games Opening Ceremonies! How cool is that? Can’t wait to represent and keep spreading the word about inclusion and advocacy.
What’s Next: Charlotte, NC & The Arc National Convention 2025
Next up, our Arc Club is gearing up for a trip to Charlotte, North Carolina—aka the Queen City—for The Arc National Convention 2025! There’s going to be a headliner from PBS, a pre-event trip to the NASCAR Hall of Fame, and a ton of awesome sessions and events.
