For students who need legal assistance with education issues like enrollment; language access; special education access, testing or services; and school discipline. We can help students communicate with schools about their legal rights, work with students and parents to ensure that they can effectively communicate with schools about students’ needs (e.g. language access issues), work with students on IEP and special-needs related issues (including attending IEP meetings), and help students in discipline hearings or petitions.
When referring, please direct students and parents to contact our main referral line and leave a message, 703-778-3450. They should leave a message with their name and phone number and our legal assistant will promptly return their call. They must leave a message to get in contact with us – there is often no person available to answer the phone directly. Note also that there are no walk-in hours on Fridays.
