Financial Fitness Friday: Military Survivor Benefits and SNTs – Planning for Dependents with Disabilities

Join The Arc of Northern Virginia for an informative webinar exploring military and Veterans Affairs (VA) survivor benefits and how they intersect with special needs planning for individuals with disabilities.
This session will provide an overview of military and VA survivor benefits, with a particular focus on the eligibility requirements for a dependent child to qualify as an “incapacitated child” under the military Survivor Benefit Plan (SBP). We will also discuss the requirements for establishing a Special Needs Trust (SNT) as a designated beneficiary of SBP benefits, as well as the VA’s criteria for recognizing an adult dependent child as a “helpless child.”
Whether you are a military family, caregiver, or professional supporting individuals with disabilities, this webinar will offer valuable insight into navigating these benefits and planning for long-term financial security.
