TFIL’s Travel Trip

Whether you are a first-time rider or simply want to increase your knowledge of safety and public transit, these travel experiences are for you. The Tech for Independent Living (TFIL) team hosts ongoing metro and bus trips designed for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. These outings help participants build confidence, independence, and knowledge about traveling in the community.These trips simplify an overwhelming concept by turning them into an enjoyable group outing where everyone feels empowered. These in-person travel training events are FREE to attend and include SmarTrip cards, but pre-registration is required.
Friday, July 17th – Tyson’s Pimmit Regional Library to Tyson’s Corner Center, 11 AM – 2 PM Participants will gather at Tyson’s Pimmit Regional Library and hear from a panel of self-advocates and their experience with gaining employment. After hearing from them, participants will take the bus to Tyson’s Corner Center to enjoy shopping or a bite to eat before heading back.
