I hope everyone had a lovely holiday season!  Advocacy time is here and I’m really looking forward to kicking it off with Wednesday’s budget hearing.

This is an enormously important day.  The members of the House Appropriations and Senate Finance Committees from NOVA (and a little beyond) will be there.  These are the “money committees” who will ultimately make all of the decisions about how our state spends its dollars in the next fiscal year.

As a reminder, the hearing tomorrow is at 10 AM, and speaker sign ups start at 9 AM. The hearing will be held at the NOVA Community College Annandale Campus at the Ernst Community Theater is located at 8333 Little River Turnpike, Annandale, VA.  Here it is on google maps.

If you’re coming as a supporter, THANK YOU SO MUCH!  It means a great deal for legislators to see a big turnout for a group.  I will have stickers of some sort (waiting on final info from our state chapter) for everyone to wear to present a unified front.  Once our last speaker talks, we have historically stood as a group to show presence and solidarity.  You’re welcome to leave then (likely by 11 AM) or stay and listen to others testify.

The Arc of Virginia, our state chapter, put out a great toolkit for the day HERE.

If you have any questions, let me know.
