About the 5k Race

For 45 years, this has been Northern Virginia’s premier corporate and community challenge foot race and the area’s only team-based race, with teams of 5-7 runners.

The 5k Course starts at Shelter C at Burke Lake Park (7315 Ox Road, Fairfax Station, VA) and continues out and back, to return to Shelter C.  The course is partially paved and partially on the dirt path (watch for some rocks and roots!) over mildly rolling terrain. The race ends at Shelter C for post-race festivities, including food, music, and an awards ceremony.

Timing:

This race is chip timed by NoVA Race Timing www.novaracetiming.com. Race results will be posted on their website.

Running Teams consist of 5-7 team members for the Team Challenge 5k Course. The competition is scored by finish order of runners, not by individual times.

Team Categories include:

• Corporate Coed – (Note: requires at least 2 female team members.)
• Corporate All Male
• Corporate All Female
• Community Open

Awards:

Trophies will be awarded to the top three Corporate All Male, top three Corporate Coed, top three Corporate All Female, and top three Community Open teams.

About the 2k Fun Walk or Roll

a drawn map showing the route of the 2k fun walk

For those who are not runners, we are very happy to welcome everyone who wants to gather for the fun of the event by walking together in-person as a team. And because the course is paved, those who use wheeled forms of mobility can participate as well!  Walking/rolling teams can have up to 7 participants. The 2k Fun Walk/Roll is 1k in each direction, out and back — however, teams are welcome to walk the entire 5k running course if they would like. This category of our Team Challenge event is fun, non-competitive, and pet, family, wheelchair, and stroller friendly. Finish times will not be recorded.

Registration Fees:

Walking team ( Up to 7 people):  $500          Individual walker:  $45

All preregistered participants will receive an event t-shirt and bib.
