Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) personnel will be at The Arc of Northern Virginia on Friday, March 13th, from 10:00am to 2:00pm. Walk-ins are welcome, no appointments are needed. DMV Connect teams are equipped to conduct all DMV transactions except vital records and testing. This includes obtaining your REAL ID driver’s license.
PLAN NOW – GET YOUR DOCUMENTS IN ORDER
The REAL ID Act is a federal law that affects how states issue driver’s licenses and ID cards if they are going to be accepted for federal purposes, such as boarding domestic flights or entering secure military installations or federal facilities that require ID. Beginning October 1, 2020, the federal government will require you to present a REAL ID compliant credential, or another federally approved form of ID, in order to board a domestic flight or enter a secure federal facility.
Other DMV services available include regular drivers licenses, identification cards and vehicle titles & registrations, parking placards, and more.
All applicants seeking to obtain an ID or driver’s license, including current Virginia license or ID holders, must provide DMV with physical documentation of:
- Identity (e.g. unexpired U.S. passport or U.S. birth certificate)
- Legal presence (e.g. unexpired U.S. passport or U.S. birth certificate)
- Full Social Security Number (e.g. Social Security card or W-2 form displaying full number)
- Two (2) Proofs of Residency (e.g. valid Virginia driver’s license, recent utility bills, mortgage or rental lease agreements displaying current residential street address, not a P.O. Box)
All documents MUST be the originals. NO photocopies will be accepted.
