Moving with an IEP: Red Flags and How to Navigate Them

April 9 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Moving to new school districts and even states with an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) can be tough. We invite you to listen and learn about how to best navigate this process and maximize your student’s success. The presenter will cover common issues, including general statements, that parents might hear from an IEP team at a new school, effective ways to professionally push back on concerns, the process of transitioning to a new school in a different state, and what comparable education really means when moving with an IEP. This is a great resource for military families, and any planning a move with a school aged child. Parents will leave with a 4-page PDF (delivered digitally) that includes a sample email, checklists, and a timeline for moving.

The session will be presented by Meg Flanagan, founder of Meg Flanagan Education Solutions LLC, is a teacher, mom and passionate special education advocate. She is dedicated to making the K-12 education experience easier for families across the US. Meg holds an M.Ed in special education and a BS in elementary education. She is a certified teacher in both elementary and special education in Massachusetts and Virginia. Since 2017, Meg has been supporting families around the world navigate the IEP and 504 Plan process. She has achieved successful outcomes for over 150 families in eight US states and in DODEA schools across four countries.
