The Virginia Ability Alliance is a coalition of not-for-profit organizations representing people with disabilities in Virginia. The VAA advocates for community opportunities for people with disabilities, and supports investments of state, local, and private resources in building access to the community in all settings. Our members include The Arc of Northern Virginia, the Autism Society of Northern Virginia, the Down Syndrome Association of Northern Virginia, and many others. As 501(c)3 organizations, the VAA members are not advocates for any political party; simply advocates for educated and active civic engagement.
The VAA meets every second Wednesday of the month at 9:30 at the offices of The Arc of Northern Virginia. If you would like to join the group or attend a meeting please contact Lucy Beadnell, Director of Advocacy, for more information and availability.
November 7th General Election in Virginia
As we have done in past years, the Virginia Ability Alliance has developed a survey to gather input from candidates representing Northern Virginia in state office on what they know, would like to see, and will work to ensure for people with developmental disabilities. All survey results will be shared on this page. We encourage you to talk to candidates running to represent you about issues of importance to the DD community.
