Disability Services Navigator Support
Families can now hire a Disability Services Navigator through The Arc of Northern Virginia to get direct, 1:1 support from an experienced professional.
This service is offered at $150 per hour, and families are billed monthly for any hours they use.
A Disability Services Navigator can help you understand options, complete paperwork, and find the right resources for your family through phone and zoom conversations. Support can include:
- Medicaid Waiver help – applying for DD or CCC Plus Waivers
- Waiver appeals – support if services are denied or reduced
- Social Security applications – help with first-time SSI/SSDI applications
- Housing options – navigating group homes and other licensed residential programs
- Special education – planning and accessing school-based services
- Behavioral and mental health support – crisis prevention planning and navigation
- Guidance with the criminal justice system – non-legal, layperson assistance
- First responder planning – preparing for positive, safe interactions
- Future planning – basic guidance on Special Needs Trusts, ABLE accounts, and long-term planning
- Decision-making support – Supported Decision-Making, guardianship, and other legal authority options
- Resource navigation – finding local providers, programs, and services
If your family is interested:
- Sign and return the engagement contract linked below to Lucy.Beadnell@TheArcofNOVA.org.
- After the contract is received, you will pay a $150 retainer, which covers your first hour of services.
- Lucy will then send you an intake form with a few questions about your needs.
- Your answers will be shared with the Navigator, who will reach out to your family directly to begin support.
