When Governor Glenn Youngkin announced additional Board appointments last week, a name appeared that was familiar to Northern Virginia families and policymakers alike. Lucy Beadnell, Director of Advocacy at The Arc of Northern Virginia, has been named to the Public Guardian and Conservator Advisory Board.
The Board provides advice to the Commissioner of the Division for the Aging about public guardianship. It also assists in the coordination and management of local public guardianship programs.
“I’m thrilled to be appointed to the public guardianship and conservatorship advisory board,” Beadnell said, “and I’m eager to get to work on insuring Virginia who truly need this kind of representation are well served and supported in achieving of life of maximum independence.
“I’m grateful to Governor Youngkin for this appointment and opportunity. Guardianship and conservatorship are areas where I have a great deal of passion and interest, and I look forward to getting to work with partners around the state on ensuring we have the strongest possible system for people with disabilities.”
