Let’s start taking care of tomorrow, together. Ready to start your futures planning? Take the first step toward creating a Special Needs Trust for a loved one with a disability. Just ask us how it all works. Our team is happy to guide you through the enrollment process.
Our Special Needs Trust beneficiaries receive more than protection of government benefits. A beneficiary gets the advantages that come from being a member of a large trust, including the knowledge of disability issues and high-quality management services of a reputable nonprofit organization.
Let’s talk about the future.
Steps in the process:
Research. We know you have questions. That’s why we’ve created the free information resources on our website, and videos on our YouTube channel. We enccourage you to review these resources that provide helpful insights on what a trust can offer.
Contact us to schedule a consultation. This initial meeting is intended to discuss options that best meet your individual needs, and the services provided by The Arc of Northern Virginia’s Trust department.
During your consultation, we’ll provide a Checklist of Documents you’ll need in order to establish a trust. We encourage you to study this list, and if you chose to proceed, begin to gather the documents.
When you’re ready to establish your trust, we’ll ask you to provide copies of the relevant documents identified in the checklist and a drafted Joinder Agreement to our Administrative Coordinator in preparation for your trust establishment meeting.
At the same time, you’ll schedule a meeting for the actual establishment of your trust.
Next, you will attend your trust establishment appointment. In this meeting, the Director of Trusts and/or the Assistant Director of Trusts will review your documents to ensure accuracy and, most importantly, answer any remaining questions you may have.
After the appointment to establish your trust, you will need to have the Joinder Agreement notarized. A hard copy of the notarized document needs to be mailed back to our office in order to finalize the establishment. At this time, a check with the money to fund your trust can also be sent to The Arc of Northern Virginia, if that is your plan or desire.
Once we receive the hard copy of the notarized page, we’ll conduct a final review to process the establishing of your trust account. Then we’ll prove you a Welcome Packet of materials.
After your trust account is established, we’ll schedule follow-up meeting with our Client Coordinator to support you in understanding and navigating your new trust account.
